Justin Trudeau thinks low-income Canadians don’t pay taxes

My Conservatives colleagues and I have been warning Canadians that Justin Trudeau will raise taxes if he’s re-elected in October. Recently, this has been made even more clear.

In response to a Conservative question in the House of Commons about why he cancelled tax credits for families, the Prime Minister said, “low-income families don’t benefit from tax breaks because they don’t pay taxes.”

Not only is this an embarrassing factual error, it shows just how little Justin Trudeau understands about everyday Canadians. Anybody who earns more than $11,809 a year – which is well below the poverty line – pays taxes including income taxes, gas taxes, payroll taxes and GST.

Thousands and thousands of low-income Canadians do pay their taxes and barely make ends meet as it is. If Justin Trudeau truly believes low-income Canadians don’t pay taxes, it’s just a matter of time before he comes after them for more.

Conservatives want to lower your taxes and help you get ahead. Justin Trudeau wants to keep making all Canadians pay for his mistakes.
